The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (“the NHA”) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on Monday, 23 June 2025, Jockey Andrew Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.2, in that as the rider of CHERRY OH BABY, he failed to ride the horse in question in a competent and professional manner in Race 1 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 7 May 2025.  


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (the NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry commenced at its offices in Johannesburg on 12 October 2023, Trainer Mr A P Peter was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.7 and Rule 10.5.14. 


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an inquiry held in Durban on 3 September 2025, Jockey R Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that, as the rider of PERILLA, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PINK PIGEON at the 300m during Race 2 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 5 July 2025. 


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 18 June 2025 and concluded on Friday, 29 August 2025, Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M in Appendix E on the use of the crop).  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking KING OF THE GAULS more than twelve times (13), which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race, in Race 8, the GOLDEN HORSE SPRINT (Grade 2) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 31 May 2025.


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 13 August 2025, Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. The particulars being that as the Rider of LADY SPRINGFIELD, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HAMPSTEAD HEATH when he shifted in at the 250m during  Race 10 at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 15 July 2025.   

Jockey Yeni pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge. 


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an inquiry held in Durban on 6 August 2025, Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Appendix E and Guideline M on use of the crop). The specifics of the charge were that he misused his crop by striking GLADATORIAN more than twelve times (14) during Race 8, the HKJC Champions Cup (Grade 1), at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 27 July 2025.  This action was deemed to be unwarranted in terms of the circumstances of the race. 


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on Friday, 25 July 2025, Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. The particulars being that as the rider of TIME FOR LOVE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ROYALS (C Little) and LUNA HALO (R Fourie) when he shifted inwards at the 450m in Race 7 at Fairview Racecourse on 11 July 2025. 


The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on 25 July 2025, Jockey C Maujean was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.  The particulars being that he failed to ride MISS PRIOR out to the end of the race, where circumstances permitted, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in Race 4 at Fairview Racecourse on 02 July 2025.
