The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 7 July 2025, Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.  The particulars being that he failed to ride WORLDLY out to the end of the race, where circumstances permitted, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in Race 9, the HOLLYWOODBETS BRIGHT FUTURE CLASS 4, at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 17 June 2025.   

 Jockey Wright pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.  

The Inquiry Board, having considered the aggravating and mitigating factors presented as well as Jockey Wright’s record with regard to contraventions of this Rule, imposed a fine of two thousand five hundred rands (R2 500.00). 

Jockey Wright has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
