An independent National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) Panel consisting of Messrs G Soma, J Vermaak and K Miedema was convened virtually on 2 September 2022 to consider a Merit Rating Appeal lodged by Trainer Mr André Nel against the published adjusted rating of 77 given to ROSALIE RUNS after her win in Race 7 at Kenilworth Racecourse on 13 August 2022.

The Appeal Panel, after carefully considering the particulars of how the race was rated, and more specifically ROSALIE RUNS’ adjusted rating of 77 following her performance in this race, ruled that IRISH WILDFLOWER was the appropriate line horse used by the Handicappers and that their assessment of the race was correct. 

Consequently, the Appeal was dismissed. 

As the Appeal Panel felt that there was no prospect of success, and that the Appeal was frivolous, the appeal fee was declared to be forfeited.
