The NHA’s part time staff have downed tools due to their TERS payments for the period 1 July to 15 August 2020, effected into their bank accounts today. They have cited discrepancies with the payments and after explaining this over the past week, they failed to grasp the calculations and are demanding that the full amount as paid by TERS to be effected into their bank accounts and ignoring the wages that were earning during the above period. This is a contravention of the UIF TERS guidelines (see extraction below).
- World Sports Betting Gauteng Summer Cup (Handicap) Grade 1)
SUMMER PUDDING has had her merit rating raised from 119 to 129 after she made it nine wins from nine starts with an emphatic victory in the Grade 1 World Sports Betting Summer Cup (handicap) over 2000m on the Turffontein standside track on Saturday 28 November.
- Avontuur Estate Concorde Cup (Grade 2)
UNBEATEN MALMOOS has had his rating raised from 110 to 114 following his success in the Grade 2 Avontuur Estate Concorde Cup for three-year-olds over 1600m on the Kenilworth winter course on Saturday 21 November. The Handicappers took the unanimous view that 3rd placed RASCALLION made for the best line horse which leaves his rating unchanged on 109, however, runner-up LINEBACKER was raised from 109 to 112.
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that the Inquiry which was scheduled to take place on Friday, 20 November 2020 in Durban, has been postponed.
The subject matter of the Inquiry is alleged racist comments made on social media by Trainer Mr Frank Robinson.
- Victory Moon Stakes (Grade 3)
CHRISTOPHER ROBIN has had his merit rating raised from 98 to 109 after his easy success in the Grade 3 Victory Moon Stakes over 1800m on the Turffontein standside track on Saturday 14 November. The Handicappers were of the unanimous view that runner-up ASTRIX made for the ideal line horse here and his rating remains unchanged on 110.
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that it has opened an Inquiry into alleged racist comments made on social media by Trainer Frank Robinson.
After careful consideration of the social media post and the prima facie evidence, the Chief Executive and Racing Control Executive have placed an interim suspension on Trainer Robinson in terms of the provisions of Rule 91.2.
- Laisserfaire Stakes (Handicap) (Listed)
HELLO WINTER HELLO has had her rating raised from 96 to 99 following her win in the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes (handicap) for fillies and mares over 1100m at Kenilworth on Saturday 7 November. The Handicappers were unanimous in their view that runner-up PHIL’S DANCER made for the most appropriate line horse, and as such her rating remains unchanged on 98.
The winner aside, there were no other increases for any other runners, but four horses received rating drops. BOOMPS A DAISY drops from 88 to 86, HILDEGARDE is down from 97 to 95, DELTA QUEEN was cut from 98 to 95, and lastly BAD HABIT is down to 83 from 85.
- Emperors Palace Charity Mile (Handicap) (Grade 2)
HUDOO MAGIC has had his rating raised from 106 to 110 following his success in the Grade 2 Emperors Palace Charity Mile (Handicap) over 1600m on the Turffontein standside track on Saturday 31 October.
In selecting a line horse, the Handicappers were of the view that 6th placed ASTRIX would not have run below his best in finishing two lengths off the winner in a race of this calibre and his mark remains unchanged on 110.
- Western Cape Fillies Championship (Grade 2)
PRINCESS CALLA has had her merit rating raised from 105 to 108 after she captured the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship for three-year-old females over 1400m on the Kenilworth winter course on Saturday 24 October.
The Handicappers were of the view that runner-up TRICKSTER made for the best line horse, given that she also finished behind PRINCESS CALLA in the Grade 1 Thekwini Stakes won by ANYTHING GOES at Greyville in August. Accordingly, TRICKSTER’s rating remains unchanged on 104.
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that it has opened an inquiry into an incident that occurred in the weighing room area at Turffontein Racecourse, after the running of Race 7 on Saturday, 24 October 2020.
