HANDICAPPING RATINGS UPDATE

East Cape Oaks (Listed)

BYE BYE BOMBSHELL has had her merit rating raised from 85 to 90 after she ran out the winner of the Listed East Cape Oaks for three-year-old fillies over 2000m on the turf course at Fairview on Friday 15 April.  The Handicappers took the view that 5th placed FIELD OF VISION was unlikely to have run below her rating of 72 in a race of this calibre and used her as the line horse, leaving her mark unchanged.

Runner-up MONASHADA was raised from 77 to 87, while the only other increase was for 3rd placed PEUT ETRE MOI, who is up from 77 to 84.

The only drop was for DO SI DO, who is down from 74 to 72 to make her not higher than the 72-rated line horse FIELD OF VISION, who beat her by more than two lengths at level weights.

Glenlair Trophy (Listed)

FOLLOW THE STAR has had her rating increased from 88 to 93 after she captured the Listed Glenlair Trophy over 2800m at Fairview on Friday.  It was 3rd placed FIND ME UNAFRAID who was deemed to make for the best line horse here, leaving him unchanged on a mark of 95.

The specific conditions of the race do not allow for any increase in the ratings of horses other than the winner.  Accordingly, 2nd placed ANCIENT TIMES and 4th finisher SABINA’S PRODIGY remain unchanged on 95 and 92, respectively, although actually achieving marks of 99 and 95, respectively.

Three horses received a rating’s drop.  RATTLE MOUSE is down from 85 to 83, MISS ORANGE drops to 93 from 94, and lastly RESPECTABLE MISS was trimmed from 86 to 85.
