INQUIRY – JOCKEY A MGUDLWA

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 7 August 2023, Jockey A Mgudlwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that as the rider of BOWIE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BACK TO BLACK at the 1200m, in Race 3 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 26 July 2023.

 Jockey Mgudlwa pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge. 

The Inquiry Board, after considering all factors in aggravation and mitigation, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days. 

Jockey Mgudlwa was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
