The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in the Stipendiary Stewards’ Boardroom at the Vaal Racecourse on 17 January 2018, Apprentice Jockey Lyle Hewitson was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FRONT FIFTY (A Delpech), shortly after the start of Race 4 at the Turffontein Racecourse on 19 November 2017.
Apprentice Jockey Hewitson pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board, after hearing all the evidence presented suspended Apprentice Jockey Hewitson from riding in races for a period of seven days.
Apprentice Jockey Hewitson was given the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.
