INQUIRY – JOCKEY S KHUMALO

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Friday, 28 November 2025, Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that as the rider of ECHOES OF WAR, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to CONTINENTAL KING (*T Mayhew) when he shifted in away from the crop at the 150m in Race 2 at Turffontein Racecourse on 13 November 2025.  

Jockey Khumalo pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge. 

After considering the evidence, as well as Mr Khumalo’s record pertaining to this type of contravention, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days. 

Jockey S Khumalo has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
