The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on 25 July 2025, Jockey C Maujean was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.  The particulars being that he failed to ride MISS PRIOR out to the end of the race, where circumstances permitted, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in Race 4 at Fairview Racecourse on 02 July 2025.   

Jockey Maujean pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.  

After considering the aggravating and mitigating factors presented as well as Jockey Maujean’s record in relation to this Rule, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a fine of two thousand rands (R2 000.00). 

Jockey Maujean has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed
