The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on Friday, 09 May 2025, Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. The particulars being that as the Rider of BLOSSOMING MIND, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DANCING IN WINTER (G Wright), TWILIGHT BAY (C Zackey) and DUCHESS OF SEVILLE (R Fourie) when he shifted out at the 100m in Race 5 at Fairview Racecourse on 11 April 2025.  

Jockey Yeni pleaded not guilty, however, he was found guilty of the charge.  

After considering the mitigating and aggravating factors, along with Jockey Yeni's recent record under this Rule, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days. 

Jockey Yeni was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and penalty imposed.
