The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Sunday, 11 May 2025, Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that, as the rider of RACEWAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to WINGS OF ICE (C Maujean) and HAWKSDALE (G Lerena) when he shifted in, in the concluding stages of Race 1 at Turffontein Racecourse on 1 May 2025.  

Jockey M Yeni pleaded not guilty, however, he was found guilty of the charge. 

After considering the mitigating factors presented, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days 

Jockey M Yeni was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
