INQUIRY – JOCKEY C ORFFER

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on Saturday 6 April 2024, Jockey C Orffer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline M in Appendix E on the use of the crop.  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking MASTER REDOUTE more than twelve times (13) in the entire during Race 10, NEW TURF CARRIERS WESTERN CAPE STAYERS (Grade 3), at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 27 January 2024.    

Jockey Orffer pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.  

The Inquiry Board, after having considered Jockey Orffer’s record pertaining to this type of contravention and the status of the race, ruled that he be suspended from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days and be fined the sum of R16 843.00 (sixteen thousand, eight hundred and forty-three rand).

Jockey Orffer was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
