To all trainers and equine veterinarians
The following substances are approved for administration on a race-day:
- Ammonium Chloride Salts;
- Vitamin B1;
- Calcium; and
- Homeopathic preparations used in the prevention of EIPH.
The total volume of such preparations and substances may not exceed 500ml.
It is a contravention of the Rules to administer any other substance topically, orally, by injection, by inhalation, by drenching, by infusion or any other method other than normal feed and water by mouth, on the day of a race meeting.
Any deviations from the above may result in significant penalties being imposed.
The NHA is committed to international harmonisation of the rules of racing and may revoke this authorisation in the interests of horse welfare and racing integrity.
