HANDICAPPING RATINGS ADJUSTMENTS

  • Post Merchants (Grade 2)

EDEN ROC has had his rating increased from 110 to 115 after he quickened up very well and won the Grade 2 Post Merchants over 1200m at Scottsville on Saturday 13 June.  The Handicappers were unanimous in their view that 4th placed WARRIOR’S REST was the correct line horse to use when assessing the race and as such his rating remains unchanged on 113.

Runner-up INVIDIA and third placed CARTEL CAPTAIN ran to ratings of 114 and 108 respectively, but the specific conditions of the Post Merchants do not permit any increase to the ratings of placed horses and accordingly these two remain unchanged on marks of 108 and 106 respectively.

Four horses were given a rating’s drop.  SOCRATES is down from 104 to 103, AFRICAN WARRIOR drops from 115 to 112, SOLID GOLD is down from 99 to 98, and lastly PLEASEDTOMEETYOU drops from 112 to 109.

  • Poinsettia Stakes (Grade 3)

PRETTY YOUNG THING remains unchanged on a rating of 115 following her success in the Grade 3 Poinsettia Stakes over 1200m at Scottsville on Saturday.  Third placed CAPTAIN’S GIRL was considered to be the best line horse and accordingly her rating remains unchanged on 100, while the winner in fact only runs to 110 in assessing the race this way.  5th placed BINOCHE also runs to her mark, effectively making her a line horse as well, and as such her rating stays unaltered on 99.

The only increase was for runner-up MASTER KEYS, who goes up from 101 to 104, while the only drop was for GREENER PASTURES, who is down from 90 to 87.
